Greece suffered a cold spell

The Greek fire department said on the 6th that the bad weather caused by the
cold current has caused three deaths in Greece.

At the beginning of the new year, the cold current brought gale, cooling and
rain and snow to most parts of Greece. The temperature in the central and
northern parts fell below zero and there was strong snowfall, which caused road
closures in some areas, large-scale flight delays and ferry outages.

The Greek fire department announced on the 5th that since the rain and snow
began on the 3rd, 28 people have been sent to hospitals by firefighters
throughout the country, and 45 people have been rescued in trapped vehicles.

The Greek meteorological department predicted that Athens and southern Greece
may have snowfall on the evening of the 7th.
